Through The Clay
📍Ein Karem, Jerusalem.
In 1992, i’ve decided to connect between my artistic practice and my personal life.
I opened a studio in my own home, a step which led me to create work on deeper emotional level.
I explore myself through the clay.
I examine it while using the material to deal with the thoughts that arise in my mind throughout my life.
My preoccupation with my inner world and myself has always been the basis of my work.
My self-expression happens through art.
First in painting and in recent years in sculpting.
I feel the most inspired when i’m in my comfort area.
My studio is located on the hills of Ein Karem, an ancient village in southwest Jerusalem that is now home for many artists.
My work combines women and animals, especially fish.
For me, the fish symbolize the background noise, the thoughts, the feelings,
the anger, everything that directs me in this life, everything that surrounds me.
The calm and flowing composition of the characters in my work is broken
by the fish surrounding them, but also continuing them.
On the one hand, the fish are interfering and on the other hand
they are an inseparable part of my daily life.
In the last three years I have returned to my old love - sculpting.
I sculpt myself and create my own image. I also sculpt people, especially women as self-portraits.
I try to put both lyrical and storytelling characters into my work.
